With Halloween less than two weeks away, costumes are a hot topic right about now. There are countless creative and cool cosplays costumes circulating social media these days. It’s hard to narrow a “best of” down to just 10, but we know how the internet loves lists. I’ve looked and found hundreds of cosplays that were absolutely amazing, but here are some that for particular reasons caught my eye. Without further adieu, I present the Top 10 DC & Marvel costumes.
Kate, who goes by Stacycosplays , named after Gwen Stacy, has vast collection of incredible cosplays she has done. All of her costumes are top tier, but Sue Storm stood out for the simple fact that there isn’t a lot of the Invisible Woman cosplays out there; not as much as other leading female characters anyway. Kate does a fantastic job becoming Sue, and the orbs around her hands really add to this image.
Love her or hate her, Wanda, aka the Scarlet Witch, became a key player in the current phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. On her show WandaVision, she sported her classic comicbook costume for the Halloween episode. Cosplayer Caitlin Christine is a master at transforming into various DC & Marvel characters and had no trouble pulling off Wanda from this episode. This image really embodies what this whole article is all about.
There are many Catwoman cosplay costumes out there on the web, but I have a soft spot for versions adapted from Batman: the Animated Series. That show was my childhood. Shay, aka prototype.fox, as with all of her other cosplays, is purrr-fect as the femme fatale, and looks like she leaped right out of the cartoon. The stolen jewels are the icing on the cake.
Harley Quinn has really climbed the ranks in popularity since she was first conceived 30 years ago. Another vixen, sometimes hero, straight from my favorite animated series. Kev, livingdead_kev on Instagram, is a makeup master, as seen here in her portrayal of Harley. Attention to detail doesn’t begin to cover what she has pulled off in her various uploads. From the baby blue contacts, to the red shine on her black lips, and carefully crafted eyelashes, she’s the literal embodiment of her cartoon appearance.
Rogues Gallery Cosplay are a duo with a collection of oustanding cosplays they’ve created throughout the years. It is difficult to rank their work, but this Iron Man suit they built is a must-share. The time and detail that must’ve went into this metal masterpiece is unreal. I’m sure Tony Stark would be proud. I highly recommend checking out the rest of their arsenal on Instagram.
Another incredible suit of armor, this time by the very talented cosplayer and FX artist Jamal Johns. Johns does an outstanding job on all of his works of art, but this Lex Luthor costume, maybe because it’s pretty rare, stood out. He nails Luthor’s evil expression here too in this shot by photographer Mia Ortiz. Check out his insanely cool Scorpion costume as well on his Instagram page.
Ranking these incredibly cool costumes is no easy feat. I think what bumps this Mr. Freeze suit up a notch is that perfectly fitted and breathable glass helmet over his head. How cosplayer Frozen Sith pulled this off is beyond me, but the end result is as smooth as ice.
Stephanie, or alt4cosplay on IG, is top tier when it comes to costume-making. She has a phenomenal portfolio of her perfect designs on her page, including this magnificent Moon Knight recreation worn by @ursok_ in a spectacular shot by photographer Sean Fernandez. This image looks like a still from the Moon Knight TV series. The glowing eyes, the flapping cape, and that backdrop; everything about this image is flawless.
Another cosplay creating duo, Mary and Feinobi, have done some great work throughout the years. Just about everything they do could make a Top 10 list. Lobo is a difficult character to pull off, and they absolutely killed it. Warner Bros studios should take notes, or hire these two, because they have truly brought the Main Man to life in this photo by Jáchym Brodský. Way too fraggin’ amazing.
First off, Rogue looks rad. Hats off to cosplayer Sindiroo for her comic accurate take on the character. Much better than what we’ve seen so far on film. Next to her is a real show-stopper of a cosplay. Just look at that Juggernaut costume. Imagine the work that went into that. It’s x-citing, it’s astonishing, and it cannot be stopped. Roger P, or hummin_h2, deserves a medal for what he pulled off here. It’s certainly up there amongst the craziest cosplays I’ve seen.
Be sure to check out all of the above artists in this article’s Instagram pages. All of them do outstanding work that deserves to be seen. If you’re a fan of DC and/or Marvel, be sure to check out the section of this page dedicated to both universes by clicking the button below.
