10. Will Byers
Makeup master Annie Thomas, known as Creative Cliche on Instagram and TikTok, can pretty much turn herself into anybody. Her portfolio of work is really quite stunning. She’s become several characters from Stranger Things and nailed them all. Will Byers though is a cosplay/costume that is hard to come by, for whatever reason, so it’s nice to see someone with such talent tackle the bowl-cut haired boy from the group. 9. Billy Hargrove
As much of a jerk as Billy Hargrove was, even with his last redeeming moment, fans really seemed to like this bully. I’ve come across more cosplays of him than most of the kids in the main group. Cosplayer Rozzy has been a few different characters from Stranger Things in her extensive portfolio but she really nailed not only Billy Hargrove’s look but also his personality in this image.
8. Mike Wheeler
First of all, it’s pretty wild just how closely cosplayer Oliver (wheelelf) resembles actor Finn Wolfhard, who plays Mike Wheeler on the show. This image, taken by photographer Roberta of Penny Photography really captures that. The above image, complete with his sweater and those Christmas lights, looks like it could have been ripped right out of the show.
7. Eleven
No, the ‘7. Eleven’ was not intentional, but hey, it works! There are many Eleven cosplays out there, but one really stood out to me over the others. Ashleigh Melissa is a master at cosplays, so it’s no wonder that her take on El is the most popular of all upon searching. She really pulled it off, as she does all of her costumes.
6. Jim & Joyce
Jim Hopper, Chief of Police in Hawkins, is easily one of the most loved characters on the show. Cosplayer 6 Seasons & a Movie does an excellent job of pulling off this Vietnam veteran & town hero with an unforgettable stache. Cosplayer Gem bares a striking resemblance to Joyce Byers, mother of Will Byers, girlfriend of Jim, as well. This action shot taken by J & T Den really captures the essence of this particular scene from the show.
5. Steve & Robin
Steve Harrington was pretty well hated during the first season of Stranger Things. It wasn’t until his bromance with Dustin Henderson beginning in season 2 that viewers really started to warm up to the character. His likability only got stronger when he paired up with newcomer Robin Buckley in season 3. These two found themselves tied up and interrogated by the Russians in season 3. This scene is reenacted masterfully by Tilda (woodsmokeandwords) , Cara (caracosplay), and photographer Ida (starbitcreations) in the photo above.
4. Max Mayfield
Max Mayfield first appeared in Season 2 of Stranger Things and was quickly embraced by the fans of the show for her bravery and compassion. In season 4 she has even more light shed on her as she becomes the first of the main cast to be targeted by the sinister Vecna. Max wearing headphones, while listening to “Running Up That Hill” by Kate Bush, became a pretty evocative image. That image is captured flawlessly by cosplayer Zuzu (zuzu.kushnirukova) and photographer Kay Winnith (kaywinnith) in this shot. Both talents have more photos from this shoot up on their Instragram pages that are worth checking out.
3. Demogorgon
The Demogorgon was the first real threat to the kids at Hawkins faced appearing in season 1, and showing up in the first season and appearing in every season since. Artist, muralist, and costume master Carl Leck created this insanely cool Demogorgon costume in 35 hours time. He used cardboard, gorilla tape, bike cables, and rubber bands as some of the pieces necessary to make the magic happen. Check out the video below to see this crazy costume in action.
2. Chrissy & Eddie
Although Chrissy Cunningham’s time on Stranger Things was short, she picked up a fan following as the head cheerleader at Hawkins High. Maybe it was that she was so adorable in her cheer uniform, or because she was such a multi-layered character behind her popular girl façade. Her moment in the woods with newcomer and the fan-favorite guitar geek Eddie Munson seemed to strike a chord with viewers. 1. Vecna
You’re sure to see Vecna, the big bad of season 4, costumes this Halloween. I’m sure Spirit has some available as well as Amazon, but I don’t think any of those will come close to what the talented special effects and makeup artist Cris Alex (crisalexmua)created here. She did an exceptional job with this, so much that you’d think you’re looking at a still from the show. Watch the whole process for creating this masterpiece below.
